Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of alarm system should I get to protect my home?

A hard-wired system is easy to install in a newly constructed home or business. Each door and window alarm contact is carefully installed by our technicians. Hard-wired system wiring and door and window contacts are imbedded into the door and window frames and thereby protected from tampering. Installation of a basic hardwired system could take 4-6 hours.

A wireless system can be installed anywhere. The wireless devices are battery operated and therefore are larger. They are mounted externally on the door or window points of entry. They are cheaper and easier to install, but suffer from issues of tampering, battery failure, and radio frequency (RF) signal interference. Budget usually dictates what system is appropriate for your home. Wireless works great in rental housing, and can be moved easily.

What are the components of a home security system?

Most alarm systems include a control panel & keypad, door or window contacts, a motion detector, and an alarm siren. We also offer other optional security devices such as remote control access, glass break detection and 24 hour monitored smoke detection.

What if I have a pet?  Can I still have an alarm system?

Yes, you can still have an alarm system if you have a pet.  Major home security systems use pet immunity, which allows for most animals that weigh less than 40 pounds to wander around the home without setting off the alarm. Pets that weigh more than 40 pounds may require a system upgrade.
